  INTERNATIONAL ACCLAIM

Washington University has trained many of the leaders of molecular modeling groups in the pharmaceutical industry. Alumni are presently employed at Astra-Zeneca, Carlo Erba-Farmitalia; Chemical Design; Molecular Simulations; Fisons; Menarini; R. W. Johnson; Sankyo; Kirin; Shionogi; Smith, Kline Beecham; Sigma Chemical; Tripos Inc.; Drug Design Methodologies, LLC and Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis (Pfizer) and others as well as several Universities. The contributions of Prof. Marshall to computer-aided drug design were recognized by the American Chemical Society, both with the Medicinal Chemistry Award in 1988 and the Midwest Award in 1996. Two other awards presented to Prof. Marshall in 1996 were the Koelle Award from the Mid-Atlantic Pharmacology Society and the Science and Technology Award from the St. Louis Regional Growth and Commerce Association. His contributions to conformational analysis and peptidomimetic design were acknowledged by the Vincent du Vigneaud Award in Peptide Chemistry at the 1994 Winter Gordon Conference on Peptide Chemistry, and the Cathay Award, presented by the Chinese Peptide Society at the Chinese Peptide Symposium in Mt. Huangshan, China on July 6th, 2000. (News Release)

Also in 2000, Dr. Marshall received the Taito M. Soine Memorial Award from the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, and in June, 2001 was honored with the Merrifield Award, presented by the American Peptide Society in San Diego, CA. His award lecture can be downloaded here. Look on Publications page of this site to download his paper on Peptide Interactions written in honor of the 80th birthday of Professor R. Bruce Merrifield, "mentor, friend and role model."
